Top Tips from Kingsway Honda's Service Manager
Meet Lee Lehal, Kingsway Honda's Service Manager. Lee has over 33 years of experience in the automotive industry and has worked with Destination Auto Group for the past 22 years. When he's not working at the dealership, you can find him spending time with family and watching soccer games.
With all that experience, Lee has seen just about everything related to your vehicle's service and maintenance. To keep your car in top shape, Lee recommends below his top maintenance to-do's:
1. Change wipers with the season
A clean windshield and working wipers are keys to safe driving. Wiper blade refills are inexpensive, easy to replace and should be changed according to the season to ensure unimpaired visibility and effective wiping, especially during long rainy months.
2. Injection Cleaning
With the help with our service department, an injection cleaning service can be performed to dissolve the carbon deposits build up in the injector nozzles of a vehicle. The deposits interfere with the flow of fuel therefore negatively affect fuel economy and engine performance. This is especially important for older vehicles.
3. Brake Fluid Flush
Cars do not consume brake fluid, however if your car is low on brake fluid, it can mean a leak in the brake line or worn brake surfaces. Get your vehicle checked out periodically to ensure car is not low on break fluids. A car with low brake can result in failure to stop! Consult your car manual for the location of where the brake fluids are kept.
4. Check your batteries
Signs of a trouble battery are loose, corroded, swollen cables, dirty or wet battery top, leaking or damaged battery case. It is recommended to check your batteries before leaving for a road-trip. The battery is usually located in the vehicle engine, near the front left or right. Not sure how to fix or replace a batter? Bring it into the dealership and our trained technicians will help you out!
5. Tire Treads
Observing your tire treads is important to ensure the vehicle is safe and easy to handle. When tire treads decrease, traction between tires and the road decreases; making it harder to handle the vehicle and driving may become hazardous. Your tires have built in sunken "wear bars" in between the treads. When tread surface becomes level with the "wear bars", it is an indicator to replace your tires.
6. Wheel Alignments
Make sure your wheels are aligned properly to increase longevity of your tires. If your steering wheel does not flow smoothly after turning, it may be time to check your wheel alignment.
